Exploring the Presentation Tools!

This week I viewed the online tutorial for “Prezi.”  My initial reaction was that this presentation tool was absolutely amazing!  When I viewed the video on layering and grouping, I realized it might not be as simple as the tutorial video made it seem and I began to feel a little nervous about it.  My fear is that my presentation will look like the one that had no layering or grouping.  When I was viewed this video, it made me very dizzy and I felt as if there was no logical flow to the presentation.  Even though my fears are getting the best of me, I still think I will experiment with this presentation tool.  I love how you can actually insert a YouTube video right into the presentation.

The next tool that I looked into was “Animoto.”  This tool allows you to create a presentation video.  It seems very simple and user friendly.  I like how they could add photos and videos into the presentation.  I also liked how they were able to lower the background music when they played the video of the family.  I also love that this site is FREE!  I definitely would recommend this tool to others and think that this is the one that I am going to use for my presentation.

  1. Wonderful ! I would also like to experiment with the other site you mentions Animoto. I initially thought animoto is only meant for pictures but now I realized that we could also add background music and videos.
    Thanks for sharing,

    Regards.

  2. I too have a lot of trepidation about working with Prezi. I'm not very visual myself and I'm afraid my presentation will end up looking like something a first grader put on the refrigerator!

Everything I do always ends up in straight lines, from bulletin boards to my flower beds. I doubt this would make for an interesting presentation.

I did make a trial Animoto video, it's on my blog, and I like that it did the artistic work for me.

I just can't make up my mind, and now I'm feeling time pressure!

  3. I was introduced to Prezi last summer and experiemented with it this past school year. I found it user-friendly. After watching the tutorial about layering and grouping, I think my first Prezi could give a viewer motion sickness, but my students took notes at most stops on the presentation, so the flipping and flopping were very spaced-out. The flipping, flopping, and turning caught the attention of many of my students.
I thought Animoto was for pictures and videos, but I will have to check it out.

  4. I could not make up my mind between Animoto and Prezi but I finally decided to go with Prezi! So far, so good. I love this tool and would love to teach my students how to use it. Did anyone teach their students this web tool? If so, did they catch on quickly?
